‘Velayudham’ is a forthcoming action packed romantic Tamil language film directed by Jayam Raja and produced by Venu Ravi Chandran under the banner of Aascar Films, while the film’s soundtrack
is expected to be composed by Vijay Antony. ‘Velayudham’ is reported to be a remake of Telugu movie ‘Azad’ that had Nagarjuna (as Chandra Sekhar Azaad or Azaad, who is the protector of common man), bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty (as Kanaka Mahalakshmi) and Late actress
Soundarya (as a journalist named Anjali, who is harassed by the misdeeds of Deva, the most influential person and an underworld mafia don in the city). However, ‘Velayudham’ director Jayam Raja strongly puts up that it’s his story and not a remake of Azad or any other films.
Vijay, Genelia D’Souza and Hansika Motwani playing the lead roles in the film ‘Velayudham’. Vijay plays the role of an enterprising youngster while Genelia D’Souza is playing the role of a journalist. Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan are also doing important roles in the film. Film’s other star cast are Pasupathy, Santhanam and Sathyan.
The plot of the film is very interesting. Genelia D’Souza reports that a superhero is saving the city and circumstances lead Vijay to accidentally save the city from the impostors, making him the accidental superhero!. The film is currently in its filming stage and expected to release by mid-2011. In this occasion Actress Hanshika Motwani said, “People who saw the pictures of the photo shoot said that she looked like Khushboo in her initial days.”. Director of the film Jayam Raja vouched for the fact that ‘Velayudham’ will be one of the high points in Vijay’s career.
